I'm away from my usual computer and it doesn't look as though I'll be able to write News Comment for a couple of weeks.  My apologies to our regular readers.  In any case, as those of you in the UK will know, it's far too hot to even THINK about the Stock Markets or the idiocies of politicians and captains of industry.
