Background to
Needapresent:
It was founded in
1999 by Martin Gerhard & Jason Hick. Martin came up with the idea
when he had a little more time on his hands than usual - thanks to a
broken arm!
They were both sick and tired of rushing around the shops whenever we needed a present for someone. What they wanted was an easy to use website - full of stylish gifts, at reasonable prices - which would take the hassle out of gift buying. So they scoured hundreds of stores in London, Paris and New York… looking for unique, funky products. They went to trade fairs, read countless newspapers, magazines and catalogues - until they had a range of gifts they would be proud to give themselves. Needapresent went online in April 2000. Since then the site has gone from strength to strength and it now has tens of thousands of satisfied customers across the globe. Needapresent was nominated for the E-Commerce Awards 2002, and again in 2003... when it won the London heat of the awards.
